West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Jesse Norris 28 July 1924 - 22 May 2013 Quida Lanier Norris 4 February 1927 - Jesse Norris 28 July 1924 - 22 May 2013 Staff Sergeant US Army Air Forces WWII The Herald Democrat May 24, 2013 Sherman - Jesse Norris was born to Jesse and Mary Hendrixson Norris on July 28, 1924 at McKinney, Texas and passed from this life Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Sherman at the age of 88. Jesse attended Melissa schools and graduated from McKinney High School. He obtained an Associate's debree through correspondences and night school. Jesse served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942-1945 during World War II, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Jesse married Ouida Jane Lanier on September 5, 1945 at McKinney. Mr. Norris was very active with the First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, Sunday school department secretary, and Ministry of Encouragement. He has been an active worker since 1950 in Children's Sunday School, Training Union, Royal Ambassadors, as well as other church functions. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Malcom and Billy R. Norris. He is survived by his wife of Sherman; daughtes, Marsha Gail McLaughlin and husband, Dwight, of Sherman; and Vanessa Gaddis and husband, Gene, of Denison; grandchildren, Britton Shane Jeter of Dallas; Alee McKinney and husband, Ryane, of Sherman; 4 great-grandchildren, Austin and Chloe Jetter of Round Rock, Texas and Wren and Brooke McKinney of Sherman. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, May 25, 2013 in Waldo Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Mr. Norris was laid to rest in West Hill Cemetery with Gene Gaddis, Dwight McLaughlin, Shane Jeter, Ryan McKinney, Bruce Norris and Bill Waldrip serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer was Wayne Claxton. The Herald Democrat December 11, 2015 Sherman - Ouida Jane Lanier Norris was born Friday, February 4, 1927 in Collin County, Texas, daughter of William and Minnie Hickman Lanier and went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the age of 88. Quida was a graduate of McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas. She married the love of her life, Jesse Norris, on September 5, 1945 in McKinney. Ouida worked as a homemaker all her life. She was very active with the March of Dimes for many years and with her husband, delivered many Meals on Wheels. Ouida was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Sherman and was involved with Woman's Missionary Union. She enjoyed cooking, baking, working with ceramics, and playing Skipbo and 42. Ouida and Jesse enjoyed their time after retirement as they traveled and camped. Ouida loved her family with all her heart and the cherished memories that she leaves behind. Quida was preceeded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Gail McLaughlin and husband, Dwight, of Sherman; and Vanessa Gaddis and her husband, Gene, of Denison; grandchildren, Britton Shane Jeter and wife, Crystal, of Dallas; and Alee McKinney and husband, Ryan, of Sherman; great-grandchildren, Austin and Chloe Jeter of Cedar Park, Texas; and Wren and Brooke McKinney of Sherman. Graveside services were held Friday afternoon, December 11, 2015 at West Hill Cemetery with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating.
