 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Ira Buron Smith 9 December 1909 - 7 January 1978 The Howe Enterprise January 12, 1978 pg.2 FUNERAL Services were held Tuesday in Dannel Chapel for Ira B. Smith, 68, retired shoe manufacturer of Dorchester, who was dead on arrival at a Sherman hospital Saturday. Dr. Tom Brandon of Frist Baptist Church officiated. Born at Union City, Tennessee, he was the son of Thomas and Lula Smith. He attended schools in Union City and was in shoe manufacturing for 42 years. He was married to Dorothy Marie Brittain April 25, 1945 in Georgia and had been a resident of Dorchester 12 years, having moved there from Gainesville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, member of Travis Lodge No. 117, member of the Scottish Rite and Helia Temple Shrine. He is survived by his wife; son, James D. Smith of Dorchester; daughter, Judith C. Smith of Sherman; and one grandchild.
