 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   William Leslie "Papa Les" Phillips passed away peacefully at the Homestead of Sherman Nursing Facility on February 25, 2013. Graveside services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 2013 with Pastor Tommy Brandon of Crowley, Texas, officiating. Services were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Les was born in Sherman on July 8, 1927, son of George Phillips and Jessie Glen Elliott. He was a graduate of Sherman High School, Class of 1946. Less married Rae Walker in Sherman in 1952 and they were married for 60 years. From this union they were blessed with 3 sons. Les served proudly in the United States Air Force for 12 years, part of that time spent during the Korean War. He was employed as a fireman. prior to retirement, for the Civil Service at Perrin Field until their closing. Woodworking was a hobby that Les enjoyed as well as spending time with his grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; sons.
