 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Galen A. Smith 6 November 1906 - 29 December 1979 Alyne M. Smith 23 March 1906 - 5 March 2013 wed 28 July 1928  Alyne Monette Smith, 106 year old Austin, Texas resident, formerly of Sherman passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. A graveside service was held at West Hill Cemetery on Friday afternoon, March 8, 2013 with Don Tarbet from Howe Church of Christ officiating. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Alyne was born to Charlie Butler and Mabel Wood Butler on March 23, 1906 in Sherman, Texas. She married Galen Austin Smith in Sherman in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1979 as well as their blessed son Joe Galen Smith Sr. who also preceded her in death in 1991. Alyne was a Sherman native for 86 years prior to moving to Temple after her son's death to be closer to her daughter-in-law and grandchildren. At the time of her death she lived at Brodie Ranch Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Austin Texas. Previously she was a resident of Temple Living Center-West for 6 years. Alyne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a good friend to everyone who knew her. She loved cooking and playing bridge with her bridge club. She was a great story teller. Alyne had a strong faith and was a longtime member of Shannon Church of Christ in Sherman. Alyne is survived by her granddaughter, Connie Smith, and her partner Denise Smith of Austin, Texas; grandson, Joe G. Smith Jr. and wife, Maudean; great-granddaughter, Reagan Smith; daughter-in-law, Dorothy D.
