West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Lee Thomas Barnes 29 May 1894 - 6 April 1955 Ruby Williams Barnes 7 November 1896 - 26 April 1987 Breckenridge American Wednesday, April 6, 1955 pg. 1 200-Mile Strip in Texas Is Hit by Tornado, Hail Storm One Man Killed, 22 Injured and Damages Heavy By United Press At least one tornado, thunderstorms and hail as much as two inches in diameter belted a 200-mile strip in North Texas Wednesday, wrecking homes, commercial buildings and garages. Damage was believed to be in the millions of dollars. Lee Barnes, an elderly nightwatchman on an oil well in the north part of Sherman, was killed. At least 22 persons were reported injured. They included 15 persons at Sherman.....The tornado reported hit at the populous Sherman area, about 60 miles north of Dallas. It also hit the nearby towns of Bells and Bonham....
