West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Dick Darrell Williams, age 95, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Homestead of Sherman. He was born December 16, 1920, in Jacksonville, Texas, at the home of his maternal grandparents, to Willie Paris Williams and Thadie Mae (Pearman) Williams. He married Frances Jean Barron, on September 24, 1947, near Overton, Texas. Dick was a graduate of Arp High School in East Texas. His folks moved around quite a bit in his youth. He lived for a time at Granger, TX, Dibol, TX, and Springer, NM, as well as the Arp, TX area. He was career United States Air Force stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, Bossier City, LA, Omaha, NB, Finley, ND, as well as Perrin AFB in Denison, TX, where he retired as Major on October 1, 1966. Being in the service was a Williams’ family tradition dating all the way back to the Revolution. His great-grandfather Williams fought for the South during the Civil War. Dick was an avid golfer when he was still able. He was an avid fan of sports on TV, especially the Cowboys and Rangers as well as the PGA. He loved his furry kids, Barney, Luvy and Baby, who were a comfort to him. Dick leaves behind sons, Robert Lee Williams (Debbie), and David Randall Williams, and daughter Lori Jean Williams Neal; grandsons Chet Williams, Cooper Neal, Michael Minter and Martin Minter, granddaughters, Marianne Wiggins, Amanda Price, Annie Longoria, Melissa Williams, Ashley Prater and Brooklyn Cox; 7 great-grandsons and 9 great-granddaughters, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances on January 23, 2015, parents, daughter Sharron Kaye Minter, son Dick Darrell Williams Jr. and grandson Todd Randall Williams. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 15th, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Cindy Griffin officiating. Burial will be at West Hill Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed at the gravesite by Sheppard Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family would like to thank the folks at Homestead of Sherman, Wilson N. Jones Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice for helping make Dick's last days as comfortable as possible. Dick D.
