Rice 10 October 1932 - 4 November 1999 wed 47 years  Sherman - James "Jim" Rice, 87, of Sherman passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian/WNJ. Graveside serviceswere held Tuesday afternoon, October 1, 2013, at West Hill Cemetery with David Murphy of North Park Baptist Church officiating.z James was born December 7, 1925 in Grayson County, son of Frank Euell Rice and Leila May Giesert Rice. After high school, he received his Associate's degree in business. In 1951 James married Doris Jean Sinclair in Ida. They enjoyed 48 years [sic] of marriage before her death in 1999. James retired after a long career with the City of Sherman, first as a manager of the water department; then later, in the Code Enforcement Office. During the Korean War, James proudly served in the United States Army. James loved the Lord and served faithfully as a member of the North Park Baptist Church in Sherman. Mr. Rice is survived by one son, James Lewis Rice, and wife, Rhonda, of Sherman; one brother, Billy Rice and wife, Jackie, of Carrollton; 2 sisters, Pat Ferguson and husband, Bobby, of North Richland Hills; and Euella Carter and husband, Royce, of Murchison. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Lauren Garcia and husband, Sean; Layla Rice and Lydia Rice, all of Sherman. James was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; and his son, Ricky Lee Rice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to North Park Baptist Church, Sherman, Texas.
