- Troy Allen Moffett, 82, of Sherman, passed away Sunday, September 21,
2008 at WNJ Medical Center. Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon,
September 23, 2008 in the chapel of Dannel Funeral Home with Rusty
Sherry of Western Heights Church of Christ officiating.
Troy was born in Clarendon on December 9, 1925, son of John Wesley and Eula Lee Tucker Moffett. He attended the public schools of Clarendon and served in the U.S. Army from May 1944 - October 1945. He attended Clarendon Junior College and Abilene Christian University completing a B.S. degree. He later earned a Master's degree in business administration from West Texas State University in Canyon. On October 23, 1954 he married Jonell Black in Sherman, and they enjoyed 53 years together. Troy worked as a purchasing agent; and he and his wife moved to Sherman from Houston in 1995. He was a member of Western Heights Church of Christ. Preceded in death by his parents, Troy is survived by his wife; a son, Allen Moffett of Katy and a daughter, Shelly Ann Calvert and husband, Gary, of Anna; 3 brothers, Claude Moffett of Haysville, Kansas; Royce Moffett of Springfield, Colorado; and Hubert Moffett of Springfield, Colorado; 2 sisters, Nadine Mulanax of Petersburg and Lois Seaton of Amarillo. Survivors also include 4 grandchildren, Cortney, Brandon, Jeremy, Jennifer and one great-grandchild, Moriah. Pallbearers were Wayne Keene, Bob Cathy, Roy Hanning, Jim Lightfoot, Aaron Wilson and Paul Carter. Memorials may be made to the Children's Home of Lubbock, P.O.
