 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   Forrest "Gene" Lavy of Denison, Texas passed away at the age of 81 on August 4, 2022. Gene was born on March 14, 1941 in Henrietta, Texas, son of Forrest Fredrick and Beatrice Ellen Sewell Lavy. Gene enjoyed a full life. He served in the United States Air Force from July 14, 1952 to July 14, 1964. In his younger years he loved participating in rodeos where he rode in bull and bareback events. He loved bowling where he once had a high game of 299. Gene also had a passion for racing Dragsters and Pro Stock cars for many years. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gene Paul Lavy; daughter, Sue Winton; and granddaughter, Tonya Lavy. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Lavy; brother Bill Smith and wife, Kim, of Sherman; sons, David and Craig Lavy of Idaho; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear friend and Crew Chief, Glenn Coker and wife, Kathy. Graveside services were held on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2022 at West Hill Cemetery in Sher man, Texas. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
