JACKIE RAY GURLEY Sherman- Funeral for Jackie Ray Gurley, 50, who died Sunday at his
residence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with
burial in West Hill Cemetery. Gurley was born January 27, 1935 in Howe, son of Lloyd and Loy Gurley.
He married Frances Englutt August 5, 1952, in Whitesboro. Gurley was employed
by Johnson and Johnson for 18 years as a mail clerk in the personnel department.
He was past president of the Grayson County CB Club and a member of the
Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of Sherman; three sons, Jackie Ray, Jerry
Lynn, both of Sherman and Jimmie Scott of Denton; mother, Mrs. T. L. Mayo
of Sherman; brother, Joe Wesley; and two grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight and
at other times at the residence, 414

ANNA F. GURLEY Mrs. Anna Frances Gurley, 55 year old retired Texas Instruments employee
of 1924 E. Cherry, died Sunday at her residence. Services were held Wednesday afternoon at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill Knight of Hill Top Baptist Church in Colordo Springs,
Colorado, and the Rev. James Crawford of the Calvary Baptist Church in
Sherman officiated. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Gurley was born in Achille, Oklahoma, daughter of John Forrest
Englutt Sr. and Roxie Mae Chumley Englutt, and attended Achille schools.
On August 15 1952, she married Jackie Ray Gurley in Whitesboro. She had been employed as an environmental technician at Texas Instruments
for 22 years and retired in February. She was a member of the Carpenter
Chapter No. 183 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Calvary
Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons: Jackie Ray Gurley, Jr. and Jerry Lynn Gurley
both of Sherman; and Jimmy Scott Gurley of Denton; brothers: Carl Englutt
of Sherman and John Englutt of Kemp, Oklahoma; sisters: Dorothy Anderson,
Lauretta Collins and Jan Grantland, all of Denison; mother, Roxie Mae Miller
of Denison; and 2 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Carl Englutt, David Anderson, Ron Alsup, Leonard
Cox, Jim Leverette and Billy Nixon.

TRUCK DRIVER DIES OF MISHAP INJURIES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m Friday at Waldo Funeral
Chapel in Sherman for Joe Dan Gurley, 21, of 119 N.Burdette who died Wednesday
night in a local hospital as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile
accident. Gurley was injured about 6 a.m. Monday when the bread truck he was
driving overturned one and one-half miles south of Gunter. Gurley was thrown
from the truck and pinned underneath it. A Baptist minister, Dennis Gardner, from Oklahoma and his wife were
driving south from Gunter when they spotted te overturned truck at 5:45
a.m. Unable to free Gurley, they returned to Gunter for help. Ambulance attendants and Gunter Police Chief Tom Hardy freed Gurley
at approximately 6 a.m. Gurley was semi-concious and appeared to have severe
head and leg injuries, according to Hardy and ambulance attendents. Hardy told the Sherman Democrat Thursday morning that a ball joint
broke on the truck, causing Gurley to lose control. Services for Mr. Gurley will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Knight
of the Hill Top Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado and the Rev.
Sid Hunter of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sherman. Burial will be in
West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Gurley was born in Odessa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gurley of
Sherman. He was married to the former Deana Gay Henderson on August 4,
1978 in Pottsboro. He was a 1977 graduate of Sherman High School and a
member of the football and baseball teams. He was a member of the 1973
Koufax National Champion Baseball Team. He was employed by Mrs. Baird's
Bread Company for the past six months and was a member of the Calvary Baptist
Church. Survivors are his wife of Sherman; parents; brothers, Jack Gurley,
Jr. and Jerry Gurley both of Sherman; and Jim Gurley of Plano; grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Mayo and Lloyd W. Gurley, all of Sherman, and Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Miller of Denison, and his great-grandmother, Mrs. Lillie Miller
of Sherman. Pallbearers are Tommy Neal, Mike Conkle, Bryan Clayton, Spanky Carter,
Ricky Bullock and Terry Ingram. The family will be at the Jack Gurley residence at 414 Contemporary
in Sherman and the Johnny Cassell residence in Pottsboro.
