 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  B.R. "Cotton" Ferguson 16 June 1932 - 18 August 2008 Margaret J. Russom Ferguson 25 July 1934 - 7 November 1990 wed 30 June 1951  Richard W. Ferguson 31 July 1954 - 22 April 2009  Richard Ferguson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas. A celebration of Richard's life was held at Calvary Baptist Church 421 W. Moore, Sherman, Texas Saturday, April 25 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Pallbearers were Mark Armstrong, Ricky Reeves, Izzy Aleman, Jerry Harper, Tim Inman and Tommy Neal. Services were conducted by his long time friend, Bro. Allen Knight of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Richard was born July 31, 1954 in Sherman, Texas to the late Billy Ray "Cotton" Ferguson and Margaret Russom Ferguson. He married Michelle Mehaffey on November 9, 1974 in Sherman, Texas. Richard worked for many years with his dad at the Westwood Exxon on Sunset in Sherman, Texas. Richard eventually went to work for his Father-in-Law, Jim Mehaffey at Breathco-Mediserv, in Sherman, Texas. Richard's love for people and love for helping people really shone brightly in those years of service to our community. Richard's real passion in life was golf. He loved to play the game and watch it. He shared his love of golf with his daughter and they eventually got to play together. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and grill out with the family by the pool in the summer. He also enjoyed listening to country music, but he especially loved the old Gospel classics. Richard was a very generous man and was more than happy to help anyone in need. He was loved by many and will be missed deeply. Richard is survived by his wife, Michelle Ferguson of Sherman; two daughters Darah Ferguson Stephens and husband Chris of Sherman and Madison Ferguson of Sherman. Sisters Vicki Armstrong and Susan Ferguson of Sherman, Brother Kenneth Ferguson and partner Mike of Denison. One grandson, his "buddy", Camden Stephens. Brother-in-law Bland Mehaffey of Sherman, Father and Mother-in-law Jim and Jacque Mehaffey of Sherman. Nephews Justin Armstrong and wife Kelli of Sherman and Michael Mehaffey of Sherman, Nieces Laura Yancey and husband Richard of Sherman, Amanda Armstrong of Sherman and Kristi Mehaffey of Dallas, Great nephews and nieces, Kaleb and Claire "his girl" Armstrong of Sherman and Chris and Kylee "his favorite" Yancey, of Sherman. Richard is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Cotton and Margaret Ferguson.
