 The Herald Democrat April 29, 2012 Graveside services for James W. Talley, 87, of Sherman were held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman. Rev. Bobby Fletcher officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman. James passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Sherman Healthcare Center. He was born December 17, 1924 in Royce City, son of Roy B. and Verda Neal Rascoe Talley. He attended Royce City schools until the 7th grade, then moved to Whitewright where he graduated. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Army. James worked at the McKinney hospital and the Sherman Police Department before beginning work as a letter carrier at the U.S. Post Office in 1956 and continued working there until his retirement. He married Doris Jaco August 8, 1948 in Sherman. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2002. He was a member of the Dorchester Baptist Church. James is survived by his sons, Paul C. Talley and wife, Martha, of Dripping Springs; and James Michael Talley and wife, Wanda, of Sherman; daughter, Elaine Miller and husband, Billy, of Sherman; grandchildren, Angus and Alma Talley of Sherman; Adrian Mansfield of Gunter; A.J. and Lindsey McGlynn of Richmond; and Jacob Miller of Sherman; step-grandchildren, Adrian Carroll of Bozeman, Montana; and Aaron Carroll of Austin. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Micah Talley, Delilah Mansfield, Mackenzie Cooke, Kaitlyn Cooke and Emily Cooke. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife and sister, Mary White.
