October 18, 1918 77 New Cases at Sherman (Special to The News) Sherman, Texas, Oct. 17 - 77 new cases of Spanish influenza and 2 deaths from pneumonia were reported here in the last 24 hours. William Nicket [sic}, 35 years of age, died at 2 o'clock t his morning. He is survived by his wife and a 5-year-old daughter and a brother, Philip Nickel, Jr. of Highland, California. Riley Dennis, 19 years of age, a candy maker, died at 9:30 o'clock this morning. His wife, Mrs. Rita Dennis, and his parents survive him.
