 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Don R. Koon 17 June 1936 - 23 March 1990 Pat H. Koon 14 January 1944 - 15 January 2018  Sherman - Patricia was born Friday, January 14, 1944 in Anna, Texas to parents, Willard and Lois Brown Murley. She passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2018 in Denison at the age of 74 years and 1 day. Patricia attended schools in Anna and Howe. She married Don Koon in 1961 and traveled together as he worked in the oil field industry until an injury would disable him. They would later buy and manage a commercial laundry business in Vernon for several years. Patricia had a passion for caring for the elderly as she worked at nursing centers in Vernon, Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and in Denison. She was a Nursing Administrator and Regional Director and served on numerous nursing home boards. Patricia coached kid league softball and enjoyed bowling. She loved playing card games, Bingo and slot machines. She enjoyed the outdoors and tending to her flowers and garden. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Weldon Murley; brother-in-law, Mike Carmichael; sister-in-law, Lou Murley; step-son, Doug Mitchell; and step-father, Neal Jennings. She is survived by her loving companion of 20 years, Buck Mitchell of Sherman; his son and daughter-in-law, John Kelly Mitchell & wife, Robin and children of Webster; and his daughter, June Mitchell and children of Gainesville; daughters, Donna Downes of Gainesville; and Dana McCartney and Scottie McCarney of Denison; grandson, Justin Hall of Gainesville; granddaughter, Karissa Downes of Gainesville; grandson, Zachery Samson of Bells; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Hall of Gainesville; brothers, Jack Murley of Pottsboro; Wayne Murley and wife, Jacque, of Greenville; and Glen Murley and wife, Debbie, of Pottsboro; sister, Doris Carmichael and Jack Cannady of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, January 20 at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Steve Rice officiating. Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery with Curtis Murley, Ronnie Murley, Justin Hall, Zachery Sampson, Larry Murley and Scottie McCartney serving as pallbearers.
