MARY JANE McAFEE DIES AT MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA Mrs. Mary Jane McAfee, a resident of Grayson County for 41 years, and well known and well beloved pioneer woman of this section, passed way at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.E. Bass, in Muskogee, Oklahoma Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Death followed an illness of several weeks' duration, induced in part by Mrs. McAfee's age. She was 83 years old. The remains arrived in Sherman Monday and funeral services are being held Monday from Key Memorial Methodist Church. The Rev. M.N. Terrell, pastor, assisted by Rev. J.H. Reynolds, was in charge of the services. Mrs. McAfee had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood. Mrs. McAfee was the mother of former Sheriff Lee McAfee of Grayson County, now living in Muskogee; and of Sam McAfee, of this city, former Chief of Police. Three daughters also survive her. They are Mrs. Jake Lollar and Mrs. Butler Carpenter of Sherman; and Mrs. W.E. Bass of Muskogee. Mrs. McAfee had been a resident of Grayson County for 41 years. She located with her husband at Gordonville when she first came to this county from her native state of Mississippi. Mr. McAfee died at Gordonville 30 years ago. Interment was made at West Hill Cemetery Monday afternoon. Besides her immediate children, Mrs. McAfee is survived by 19 living grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
