The Herald Banner October 2, 2011 Sherman - Rosa Lee Luper, 99, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, October 4, 2011 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Carrie Renter, pastor of Independence Springs CME Church. Interment was at West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Luper was born October 18, 1911 in Pilot Point, Texas, daughter of Arthur and Nora Mask, Sr. Rosa grew up in Pilot Point and attended Pilot Point schools. At an early age she moved to the Blue Creek community. She married O.V . Luper, Sr. in August 1932 in Durant, Oklahoma. She was a lifetime member of the Independence Springs CME Church. She served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years with the Missionary Society, and a member of the Queen of Sheba Grand Chapter 7. Rosa will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Luper is survived by her son, James Luper and wife Sylvia, of Sherman, Texas; daughters, Elnora Hughes of Sherman, Texas; and Tommie Cross and husband, Elder David, of Sherman, Texas; sister, Brazil Cannon of Sherman, Texas. She raised Ronald Luper and Stephanie Luper Louis as her own children; 33 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Angelic Mortuary, Sherman, Texas.
