West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas San Angelo Daily Standard Tuesday evening, January 23, 1923 ALLISON MAYFIELD DIES AT SHERMAN Heart Trouble Fatah to Chairman of Texas Railroad Commission Tuesday Morning Returning from Conference Had Served as Commissioner 24 Years; Was Former Assistant Attorney General By the Associated PressAustin, January 23 - Allison Mayfield, chariman of the Texas Railroad Commission, died at Sherman at an early hour today, according to inforomation at his offices here. Heart trouble is reported to have been the cause of death. Mayfield had stopped at Sherman for a rest after a conference at Washington regarding the rehabilitation of the Orient railroad. He had served as railroad commissioner for the last 24 years and had previously served as assistant attorney general and secretary of state. Mayfield was born at Overton, Rusk County, October 2, 1869, thus making him 65 years old.
