West Hill CemeteryFriday, March 12, 1954 pg. 3 Funeral services were held at Bratcher-Moore chapel Monday afternoon for Mrs. Maggie Jane Geis, 54, of Pottsboro who died in a Sherman hospital Saturday after an illness of two years. She had been in the hospital four days. Rev. Bill Simmons and Rev. Preston Bryant officiated and interment was in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Mrs. Geis was born November 26, 1899 in Grayson County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. McGowan. She was married in Durant in 1944 to L.L. Geis. She was a member of the Hagerman Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. J.C. Payne, Pottsboro; two half-brothers, J.L. Mackey and H.E. Mackey, Sherman; one sister, Mrs. S.M. Hughes; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Tommy Drake of Virginia; and Mrs. Aubrey Stergion of Louisiana; and two grandchildren.
