West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Charles Deveral Kennedy 15 November 1929 - 20 December 2011 Staff Sergeant US Air Force The Herald Democrat December 22, 2011 Funeral services for Charles Deveral Kennedy, 82, of Sherman were held Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Services were conducted by Jim Michelle, Church of Christ minister and brother-in-law, and Richard Oglesby, Elder of the Western Heights Church of Christ and family friend. Charles was born November 15, 1929 in Cunningham to Lillie Hester Bays and David Hiram Kennedy. Charles attended and graduated from Cunningham High School where he met the love of his life, Elaine Songer. They were married in 1947 while they were still in high school, graduating together in the spring of 1948. They were married 64 years. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Kennedy. He is survived by his wife; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Eric Kelley, of Denison; daughter and son-in-law, Sharen and John Arriazola of Sherman; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Laurie Kennedy of Sherman. His brother and sister-in-law, Geral and Joy Kennedy, of Garland; his sister, Claris Jordan, of Kaurman; and his brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Charlene Kennedy, of Plano. His grandchildren, Kristin Kelley of Plano; Karl and Joe Piazza of Denison; Mandy and Shawn Riley of Sherman and Clint Arndt of Plano. His great-grandchildren, Kennedy Cash Riley, Chloe Riley, Alex Piazza, and new baby Piazza in January. His extended family, Randy Arndt, Bob and Patsy Cathey, the Charles Walker family, the Herb Peck family, and a miltitude of in-laws, nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Pallbearers were Eric Kelley, John Arriazola, Clint Arndt, Joe Piazza, Shawn Riley and Randy Arndt. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Todd Cutler, Dr. Burl Mackey, Charles Hines, Jack Anderson, Welby Pleasant, Gene Youree and Tom Watt.
