Sherman - Private graveside services for Spencer T. "Jack" Hollis were held on Friday at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman.  Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Jack passed away October 9, 2014 at the age of 96 at his residence in Sherman. He was born March 15, 1918 to Spencer and Edna Maye Hollis on the family farm near Duffau, Texas.  He was raised in Hico, Texas and graduated from Hico High School.  He married Waldien McCain in Walnut Springs, Texas on June 7, 1942.
Jack was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific theatre for three years during World War II.  He served with the Seabees in The Phillipines, New Guinea, and Japan.  After returning from the war, Jack and Waldien moved to Midland where he spent 32 years with Texas Electric Service Co. serving in several management positions.  After retirement they moved to Lake Colorado City, Texas where he became active in community service and soon worked his way back into a job.  He first served as manager of the Colorado City Chamber of Commerce and then spent another 8 years as Vice President of Colorado City Savings and Loan.
Among Jack's many passions in life were making people laugh, serving for 30 years in the Midland Kiwanis, being a 32nd degree Mason, and playin golf.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, parents, brother Hector Hollis and sisters, Mayo Hobbs and Mary Helen Croft.
He is survived his daughter, Judy Lightfoot and husband, Keith, of Sherman; grandsons, Cliff and Jeff Lightfoot, both of Sherman; great-granddaughters, Avery and Libby Lightfoot of Sherman and great-grandson Kai Lightfoot of Sherman.
Memorials may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, American Cancer Society, Home Hospice of Grayson County or a charity of choice.
