 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   The Herald Democrat October 4, 2013 Sherman - Jerry Higgins died September 30, 2013. He was born November 11, 1938, son of Paul Higgins and Opal Orr, in Sherman. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1957 and served two years in the U.S. Army. He married Cora Lou Whitley in 1974; together they founded Jerry Paul Higgins Construction. He was also active in the cattle business. He is survived by his wife; sons, Don Charles Whitley and wife, Lisa, and Rodney Whitley and wife, Jodelle; four grandchildren, Heather Beaver and husband, Nelson; Ryan Emrick, Luke Whitley, and Jordan Whitley; sisters, Sue Dorsey and Linda Robards. Funeral services were held at Western Heights Church of Christ Thursday, October 3, 2013 with Joe Ed Furr officiating. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery with Larry Cruise, Larry Bench, Nelson Beaver, Ferrell Carroll, Horace Groff and Ryan Emrick serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Ferguson, Charlie Fleming, Johnny Waltrip, and Billy Don Douglas.
