June 18, 1942 Mrs. Morris Hunter, 59, a native of Virginia, d ied at her home, 616 Ave. A, at 4 a.m. Wednesday of a heart attack after an illness of only 2 days. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the First Baptist Church of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. O.N. Baucom, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Gray's Hill Cemetery, Sherman. Born in Abingdon, Virginia, February 23, 1882, Mrs. Hunter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Porter, had lived in Texas 41 years and in Denton 13 years, the family having moved here from Sherman in 1928. She had been in charge of boarding houses in the Teachers College district. She was married to Hunter in Sherman, April 17, 1906. Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband, Morris Hunter; 6 children: Misses Margaret and Myra Hunter of Denton; Warren R. Hunter of Bakersfield; Miss Frances Hunter of New Orleans; Mrs. J.B. Ellington of Dallas; and Miss Julia Hunter of Galveston; 2 sisters and a brother, Mrs. Annie Mitchell of Sherman, Mrs. Kate Jones and John Porter of Denison. Denton Record Chronicle December 8, 1945 Morris Hunter, 69, formerl y of Denton, died early this morning at his home in Dallas. Funeral services were Monday afternoon in Sherman, and burial was in a Sherman cemetery. Hunter came to Denton in 1928 from Sherman, where he was in the hardware business, and lived here until 2 years ago. He operated a boarding house for students near North Texas State College until the death of his wife in 1941. Surviving him are a son, Capt. Warren Hunter of the 8th Service Command in Dallas, and 5 daughters: Misses Julia, Frances and Myra Hunter; and Mrs. Adam Cone, Jr., all of Dallas; and Mr s. J.B.
