The Denison Daily Herald Monday, September 3, 1906 pg. 3 THE DAY AT SHERMAN Sherman, Texas, September 3 - While driving to his home Saturday evening about 7:30 o'clock Alonzo Haydon, unmarried, aged 53 years, fell over the lap of a companion with whom he was driving, and died in a few moments. He was taken to his home. No. 1027 East Houston street. His death, coming suddenly as it does, is a great shock to his many friends in Sherman. The funeral services were conducted this morning at 10 o'clock from the residence by Rev. Forrest Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church. The decedent has resided in Sherma for forty-five years, since he came from Missouri where he was born. He was a man of honor, uprightness and integrity and a thorough Christian gentleman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He leaves a mother, Mrs. M. Haydon; two brothers, C.E. Haydon, city engineer and C.J. Haydon, the grocer. Sherman Daily Democrat Monday, February 26, 1917 pg.4 MRS. MAGGIE HAYDON Body Laid to Rest in West Hill Cemetery Sunday Funeral services for the late Mrs. Maggie W. Haydon, pioneer woman of Grayson and Collin counties, who died at the home of her son, C.J. Haydon in McKinney, Saturday morning, were held in Sherman yesterday afternoon. The body arrived in Sherman at 3 o'clock and was conveyed direct from the Interurban station to West Hill where it was interred. The services at the grave were conducted by the Rev. E.B. Fincher, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of McKinney, assisted by Dr. T.A. Wharton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of this city. Quite a number of friends of the family from McKinney attended the funeral. There were many beautiful floral offerings.
