Worth, June 28 - Mrs. Elrod, 58 years old, of Sherman, who leaped from the speeding Sunshine Special train of the Texas and Pacific railway near Radger Sunday, died today in a hospital here. She recently survived an attack of pneumonia. Corsicana Daily Sun Monday, June 28, 1926 SHERMAN WOMAN DIES AFTER LEAPING FROM FAST TRAIN Was En Route Home With Daughter to Los Angeles Sunday By Associated Press Ft. Worth, June 28 - Mrs. Emma Elrod, aged 58, of Sherman, who leaped from a speeding Texas and Pacific train near Ranger Sunday afternoon, died at 3:05 a.m. Monday in a hospital here. A fracture at the base of the skull resulted in death, attendants said. Mrs. Elrod, accompanied by her daughter and J.R. Malone of Los Angeles, was en route to the latter's home. She had only recently survived an attack of pneumonia. The train, which was traveling 40 miles per hour at the time, was stopped immediately and passengers ran back and found Mrs. Elrod unconscious. She was taken to a Ranger hospital and then brought here. The body was forwarded to Sherman for burial.
