 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   Jesse Eugene Watwood 21 December 1938 - 6 February 1995 US Navy US Marine Corps Dell R  Sherman Democrat February 7, 1995 A-10 SHERMAN - Funeral service for Gene Watwood, 56, who died Feb. 6, 1995 at his residence, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ted Gray will officiate. Burial will be in the Veterans section of West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Watwood was born in Gunter, the son of W.O. and Neva Shaw Watwood. He graduated from Lee Academy in Cleveland, Tenn. and later attended Lee College in Cleveland and Texas Tech in Lubbock. Her served in the U.S. Navy during the early 1960s at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and married Murlene McCoy Nov. 29, 1968 in Hurst. He was a real estate agent in Garland before moving to Sherman 18 years ago, and operated the Watwood Motor Company as well as working as a salesman for Taylor Lincoln-Mercury and Hilltop Ford Motor Co. He also played football for the Sherman-Denison Jets semi-pro team, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents; his wife; two sons, Shane Watwood and Shawn Watwood, both of Sherman; a daughter, Sonja Kays of Sherman. Pallbearers will be Dean Gilbert, Don Watwood, Larry Watwood, Billy Joe Shaw, John Robert Shaw and Billy Garvin Shaw. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the Watwood residence at route 5, Sherman. Memorials may be made to Texoma Kidney Dialysis Center, 1000 Memorial Drive, Denison, Texas 75020.
