 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  JoAnn Sutherland 22 June 1963 - 21 August 2011  Services for JoAnn Sutherland were held Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2011 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. W. F. Starnes, Rev. Charlie Richter and Minister Jonathan Ray Sutherland officiated. Pallbearers were John Whitfield, Randy Whitfield, Jason Smith, Rusty Sutherland, Chester Sutherland and Matt Macoy. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Jo Ann went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 21, 2011 after a lengthy and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She never complained and was an inspiration to all her family and friends. She was born June 22, 1963 in Denton, Texas to John Thurman, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Hilliard Whitfield, Jr. She married her soul mate, best friend, spiritual rock and husband, Kenneth Sutherland, on October 31, 1980. She was Kenny's life saver and spiritual rock. They had one son, Jonathon Ray Sutherland. Jo Ann was the most faithful wife, mother and grandmother. When Jonathan was in school, she ran a home day care. After he was out of school she worked in sales until she became a CNA and was a care giver for several years until her illness. Jo Ann was a very dedicated wife, mother, nanny, daughter and sister. She will be missed by her many family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Kenny; son, Jonathan Ray Sutherland, and wife, Rebekkah; grandchildren, Ashton Lee Sutherland and Makenlee Kay Sutherland; sisters, Mary Hamill, Carol Foster and husband, Jim, and Ruth Smith and husband, Robert, all of Sherman; and numerous other family members and friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Richard Whitfield.
