will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Waldo Funeral Chapel for Mrs.
Lester L. Sutherland, 59, housewife of 1013 E. Epstein St., who died at
12:40 a.m. at a Sherman hospital. Services will be conducted by Rev. R.M. Williams, pastor of the East Sherman Baptist Church with burial at West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Sutherland was born Feb. 5, 1913 at Bonham, the daughter of the later Mr. and Mrs. Lee C. Owens. She was the former Daisy O. Owens before her marriage on Oct. 17, 1928 at Sherman to Lester Sutherland, who survives. She had lived her since her marriage and was a member of the Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Robert L. Sutherland of Houston, Jerry Sutherland, Donald R. Sutherland and Doyle Keith Sutherland, all of Sherman; two daughters, Mrs. Bob Hatfield of Lubbock and Mrs. Bob Lemons of Ardmore, Okla; three brothers, Richard Owens and Alvis Owens, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; and E.L. Owens of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. A.V. Bounds of Sherman and Mrs. W.L. Wooten of Waukegan, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be P.E. Miley, J.J. Tracy, L.E. Smith, Bert Chapman, J.V. Gradick, Elliott Higgins, Albert Nibling and Leonard Nelson. The family will be at the Waldo Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday and at other times at 1013 E. Epstein. St. Funeral services for Jerry Lewis Sutherland, age 76, of Sherman, TX will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ken Dacus will officiate and the burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. He passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his residence in Sherman with his family at his side. Jerry was born on October 22, 1934 in Sherman, TX the son of Lester Lewis Sutherland and Daisy Owens Sutherland. He married Sharon Karr Venable on September 15, 1977 in Sherman. They owned the Lumber Company Club for 20 years and he also worked at Industrial Towel and Uniform Service for 11 years. Jerry loved playing Dominos several times a week at the Sherman VFW. He was a member of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharon (Karr) Sutherland of Sherman, TX, daughter, Sylvia Diann Franklin of Sherman, TX, and Normandy France, daughter, Brenda Kaye Sargent of Chattanooga, TN, son, Terry Lynn Sutherland of Sherman, TX, son, Jerry Lewis Sutherland, Jr. of Sherman, TX, daughter, Theresa Sue Barnett of Sherman, TX, daughter, Tracy Lee Jones of Durant, OK, son, Jerry Lee Venable, II of Perryberg, OH, 14 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Doyle Sutherland of Sherman, TX, brother, Robert Sutherland of Denison, TX, sister, Ava Hatfield of Broken Arrow, OK, and sister, Ann Lemons of Ardmore, OK. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his former spouse, Margie M. Dudley of Sherman, TX. Jerry and Sharon and Margie developed and maintained a loving and friendly relationship for many years for the benefit of all their children. Jerry was also very close to his companion, Lady, his Boston Terrier who was always at his side. Family night will be held on Wednesday, March 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends and food following the burial at West Hill Cemetery in the Waldo Family Center at Waldo Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Joey Barnett, Richard Cornwell, Justin Sutherland, Brandon Sargent, Tom Lohr and John Barnett.
