The Herald Democrat September 9, 2012 Surrounded by family and friends, Ruby C. Ferrell went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the blessed age of 90. She was a resident of the Sherman Healthcare Center since 2007. Prior to and during her residency there, she was cared for by her devoted and loving son, James Terry Ferrell who was by her side when she took her last breath. She was born on December 22, 1921 in Knox City, Texas to Sidney A. Ferguson and Evie (Kelley) Ferguson. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband Reginald E. "Snooks" Ferrell whom she married in Comanche, Texas on December 27, 1941. She and "Snooks" were blessed with two sons. Ruby always looked forward to family vacations and reunions that took place in Louisiana. She cherished her family and the times that they spent together. Ruby was a devout Christian who loved her church and enjoyed participating in activities with the women there. She was known to be a woman of very few words and one that never said a harsh word to anyone. Ruby loved to watch soap operas and it would be at this time that you could always find her crocheting one of her pretty afghans. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Reginald, and three sisters; Geraldine, Opal and Dorothy, brothers; Charles and Irel. Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is son, James Terry Ferrell, and son, Gary Reginald Ferrell; as well as her grandchildren, Jill Ferrell, Heather Flanagan, James Flanagan, Carrie Manuel, Dustin Manuel, Garrett Ferrell; and great-grandchildren, Bry Ferrell, Taylor Marquez, Kaleb Manuel and Anna Manuel; one brother, Bobby Ferguson. Also left behind are many nieces and nephews, Janet Walker Carroll, Norma Walker Desormaux, Linda Walker Duplantis, Darryl Walker, Pamela Wilkinson, Byron Wilkinson, and Natho Booth, from Louisiana and from Texas; Irlene Copheranham, Bobby Kent Ferguson, Randy Ferguson, also a sister-in-law, Dot Ferguson. Family night will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2012 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Parkview Church of Christ Minister, Welton Stoker will officiate.
