 Forney - Graveside funeral services for Robert Lynn Roe were held Saturday morning, June 9, 2012 at West Hill Cemetery. Rev. Shane Allen of the First Assembly of God in Taylor, Texas officiated with military honors conducted by the Ft. Hood Funeral Honor Guard. After an 18 month battle with cancer, Mr. Roe passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Dallas Veterans Hospital at the age of 63. Robert was born December 21, 1948 in Sherman, son of John Perry Roe and Nannie Battles Roe. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1967 and attended Texas A&M for 3 years. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1976 and was stationed in Germany much of the time. Following his military service, Robert spent a brief time in Oregon where he studied to become a forest ranger. Returning to Texas, Mr. Roe went to work for Texas Metal Industries where he spent 27 years working as a salesman in both Crandall and Mesquite. Robert was an avid golfer and will be remembered for his strong work ethic and love of family, especially his 2 grandchildren. Mr. Roe is survived by his daughter, Crystal Reid of Forney; 2 grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe Reid of Forney; 7 brothers, Herbert Roe and wife, Linda, of Euless; Johnny Roe and wife, Linda, of Sherman; Ross Roe of Sherman; Richard Roe of Florida; Joe Roe and wife, Barbara, of McDonough, Georgia; Jerry Roe of Tom Bean; and Mike Roe and wife, Pat, of Sherman; one sister, Sherry Arthur of Tom Bean; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 4 brothers, Donald, Buddy, Gene, and Glenn Roe.
