West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Sherman Democrat July 22, 1940 Page 8 Funeral services for Robert James Irvine, 78, a retired brick-layer, who died Sunday at 4:45 a.m. at his home, 608 South Gribble, were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Talley chapel. Services were conducted by Dr. A.R. Holton, minister of the Walnut Street Church of Christ. Burial was in West Hill cemetery. Mr. Irvine was born Dec. 5, 1861, in Durham, Ontario, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Irvine. He came to the United Stated in 1869, but was not naturalized until a few years ago. He was married to Miss Kate Custer in 1886 at Lawrence, Texas. She died in 1928. He was an active bricklayer until three years ago. He had been a member of the Woodmen of the World for 40 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. For 11 years he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Royce Loving, 608 South Gribble. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Loving and Mrs. Lester Shearer of Wichita Falls, one son, R.C. Irvine of Denison and one sister, Mrs. C.E. McReynolds of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were R.L. Whitus, George Matlock, J.P. Loving, Jess Davis, Porter Sanders and Harry Belden.
