 Herald Democrat April 21, 2010 COMMERCE - Funeral services for Marie Humphries were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, with Rev. Houston Garner officiating. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Humphries passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville at the age of 85. Marie was born April 3, 1925 in Bailey to John Henry and Nannie Mae (Maples) Hornsby. She married Edgar Humphries Dec. 21, 1947 in Sherman and he preceded her in death May 15, 1999. Her husband was in the U.S. Army and she loved being an Army wife. They retired to Sherman in 1971 and moved to Commerce in 1979. Marie was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a Baptist. Marie is survived by her sons Ed Humphries and wife Dawn of Powder Springs, Ga. and Terry Humphries and wife Wendy of Austin; daughter Debbie Adkins and husband Randy of Commerce; brother Delbert Hornsby and wife Imanell of Wolfe City; sisters Iona (Bill) Price and husband Don and Mildred Wester both of Sherman; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Cecil Fields of Lubbock and Wilbur Humphries and wife Shirley of Lago Vista and sister-in-law Helen Nobles of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, brother Lee Hornsby; and sisters Lena Hannah, Ruby Fields and Carrie Richardson Pallbearers will be Steven Adkins, Scott Blasingame, Josh Humphries, Tristan Rockefellow and George Savage.
