The Howe Messenger Friday, December 27, 1940 pg. 1 MURRAY C. CAUDLE BURIED FRIDAY Funeral services for Murray C. Caudle, 79, who died at his home in Dorchester at 7 p.m. Thursday, were held at the Dannel-Scott Funeral home in Sherman Friday afternoon. Rev. Claud Johnston, pastor of the North Park Baptist Church in Sherman, officiated, assisted by David Griffin, young Howe preacher. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Caudle was born September 20, 1861 in Clarksville, son of J.H. and Rosa Hemingway Caudle. On July 18, 1920 he married Miss Ida Pressley at Dorchester, Mr. Caudle lived at Howe for many years before going to Dorchester where he operated a general merchandise store for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1936. He was a charter member of Howe Lodge No. 430 A.F. & A.M., which lodge in co-operation with the Dorchester lodge conducted services at the grave. Surviving are his wife; 2 brothers, Emmett Caudle of Houston; and Hugh Caudle of Graham; 4 sisters, Mrs. Carl Benedict of Odessa; Mrs. Joe Smith of Knox City; Mrs. Daisy Sager of Chillicothe and Mrs. J.H. Morgan of Greenville. Pallbearers were I.H. Bowden; Will Higgins; W.A. Tucker; J.A. Wallace; W,C, Prichard; and Charlie Calhoun.
