Hugh Weldon Moody was born September 9, 1934 in Coppell, Texas and was raised in the Dallas area, although he was a long-time resident of Denison.  His parents were Rev. J.A. Moody and Edna McCarter Moody.  He graduated from North Dallas High School and received his Bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University.  He also earned a Master of Music Education from the University of Southern California.
Hugh's first love was God, followed closely by music.  He spent many years teaching choir as well as ministering at many churches.  If you needed someone to sing or just someone to pray with you, Hugh was right there.  Following his retirement, he remained very active in his community as a member of the Denison Kiwanis Club, Lions Club and finally the Billie Mosse Masonic Lodge.  He was always very active and social, and prided himself on being of service to others.  His most joyous role was being Papa to his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Ann Dishner Moody, of Denison, Texas; childre: Gwendolyn of California; David Moody and wife, Alisha, of El Paso, Texas; Michael Moody and wife, Briana, of Yuba, Oklahoma; Sarah Callahan and husband, Matt, of Denison, Texas; and Matthew Moody and wife, Eva, of Denison, Texas; grandsons, Aaron, Austin, James, and Isaiah; granddaughters, Zoey, Meiann, Maggie, Maddie, Sylvie and Ella; great-grandsons, Jackson, Oliver, August, Reese and Luka.  He is also survived by sister, Mary Simco; and brothers, Jerry Moody and Charlie Moody, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Hugh was preceded in life by his parents; brothers, Bill and Rex Moody.
Funeral services were held at Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church in Sherman, Saturday afternoon, February 20, 2021 with his children conducting the service.  Interment was at Cedar Cemetary.
Hugh would not wish us to be sad.  He would say, "Hug your loved ones tight, be loyal to our Savior Jesus, and live on."
