NOTE: Quaker lineage for Eliza Ellis (1811-1874) > David Ellis (1782-1852) > Morris Ellis II (1750-1810) >- Morris Ellis I (1715 -1760) > Thomas I. Ellis, Sr. (1683-1760) > Rev. Rowland Ellis (1650-1731).

Rowland Ellis led a large number of Welch Quakers from North Wales, following plans of government founded by William Penn, and they purchased 5,000 acres of land in Pennsylvania. They arrived in America in 1682, another colony coming in 1686. Rowland became Quaker Minister for the “Society of Friends”. Thomas, a farmer, immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1687. Morris Ellis I assumed the charge of having an illegitimate child and moved his family to what is now West Virginia where Morris II was born. David was born in what is now Hampshire County, West Virginia but at the time of his birth it was Frederick County, Virginia.

*Edward H. Weaver (brother of J.W. Weaver) born in Ohio (September 12, 1844 - November 3, 1927) married Permillia A. Kelley (December 12, 1849 - April 8, 1905) on November 18, 1869 in Wabash Co., Indiana, where they farmed before moving to Denison, Texas in 1877.  According to newspaper obit, Ed died at age 84 in Los Angeles, California after living there 18 years. He probably moved there after his wife died.  Family stories say he and son, Frank E., went there for the gold rush.  His body was returned to Texas with the funeral held at home of his nephew W.F. Weaver, 220 East Morgan St.  E.H. and P.A. are buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Denison, Texas. There were 3 children according to obit:

(A) Frank E. (January 12, 1872 - July 3, 1962) buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Denison,Texas.

(B) Valse Leroy married Lulu B. Farquhar in Lockhart, Texas.  Lulu was the daughter of Mrs. Genoa Pulliam of Luling, Texas. At time of his father’s death in 1927, V.L. was living in Tomio, Washington.

(C) Third child died in infancy

According to Edward’s obit in 1927, he had two surviving grandchildren: Mrs. E.A. Rodkey, the former Emma Weaver, (1914 graduate of Denison,Texas High School) living in Edmond, Oklahoma; and Mr. Herman Weaver of California.

NOTE:  a 1932 thank you for flowers from Edmond, Oklahoma was signed "M/M E.A. Rodkey & family; Mr. W.W. Curby; Miss Anna Mary Curby; Mr. H.L. Weaver."  J.W. Rodkey was mentioned. Made note of Emma spending vacation.

NOTE: 1870 census has Franklin, age 68, farming next to son Ed in LaGro, Indiana. John Wesley, age 23, was still living with his parents.

*John Wesley Weaver born in Xenia, Ohio, Greene County (August 18, 1846 - October 17, 1915) married Elizabeth C. “Lizzi” Rau (b. February 28, 1850 Indiana - d. November 30, 1881) at Dora, Indiana by Squire Parks on October 3, 1873. According to 1880 census both of John’s parents were born in Virginia, while Elizabeth’s father was born in Wurtenburg, Germany and her mother was born in New Jersey. They farmed in LaGro, Indiana before moving to Texas in 1879. John belonged to 1st Methodist Episcopal Church and Elizabeth belonged to the Presbyterian Church. They had two children William F. and Lulu May. According to 1910 Denison,Texas census, he was widowed, living with children Lida (Lyda), Hazel, and Burr. Bill lived next door.

NOTE: Son Bill’s death certificate incorrectly lists his father’s middle name as WILLIAM. This mis-information was provided by Bill’s wife Fannie. John W. Weaver’s tattered birth certificate gives his middle name as WESLEY.
