Thomas Stark Simms Family Thomas
Stark Sims/Simms was born on July 22, 1842 in either Audrian Co. or
Monroe Co., Missouri. He was the son of Henry Sims/Simms and Susan Jane
Sims (not related). He died on January 19, 1916 in Sherman, Grayson
Co., Texas and was buried in West Hill Cemetery.
He married Sarah (Sallie) J. Finley on August 9, 1866 in Desoto Parish, Louisiana. She was the daughter of William Finley and Elizabeth A. Davis. Sallie was buried in West Hill Cemetery with her husband. CHILDREN
MILITARY Thomas Slack Sims/Simms enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 at Florida, Monroe County, Missouri, serving four years. He was honorably discharged at the end of the war in Louisiana. His pension application was rejected. OBITUARY published in a Sherman newspaper January 1916 T. S. Sims Passed away this morning at the home of his daughter in Sherman. T. S. Sims, 74 years of age, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annie Kerr, this morning at 8:30 o'clock from the infirmities of old age and an attack of the Grip. Mr. Sims is survived by three sons and one daughter, as follows: F. M. Sims of Durant, Ok; T. B. Sims of Dexter; J. C. Sims and Mrs. Annie Kerr of Sherman. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. His wife has been dead for ten years. Mr. Sims had lived in Sherman since 1872, coming from Missouri to this city.
