Dr. Paul Pierce

NATIVE OF CHINA, DR. PIERCE SERVED HERE MANY YEARS
Born in Yang Chow, China, the son of Baptist Missionaries, Dr. Paul Pierce came to the United States at the age of 14.  He is now vice-president of the Grayson County Medical Society.
His mother taught him his grade school work, and he attended Richmond, Virginia Academy for a year when he arrived in the States.  From there he went to Baylor where he did 2 years of academy work and 4 years more for his A.B. degree. 
Going on to Baylor Medical College in Dallas, he received his M.D. in 1921 then interned at Baylor Hospital where he was house surgeon his last year.

In 1923 he came to Denison and was appointed to the Katy Railroad Employees Hospital staff.   After serving 5 years in that capacity, he decided to devote all his time to general practice.  In 1941 he was appointed chief surgeon of the Katy Hospital and held that position 2 years before resigning in October 1942 to return to his private practice.
Dr. Pierce's mother, Mrs. L.W. Pierce, lives in Brownwood.  A sister, Dr. Ethel Pierce, is a pathology specialist while his brother, Rev. Herbert Minor Pierce, is pastor of the First Baptist Church in Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Dr. Pierce is also commander of the Coast Guard flotilla, a rescue organization on Lake Texoma.  He heads the Medical and Surgical Clinic over Bear Drug and is a member of the active staff at Madonna Hospital.  Mrs. Pierce is the former Miss Edna Rader of Denison.
