This is a photo from my grandmother, Malissa Gertrude Hamilton Stephens (1886-1981), and Ethyl Lillian Hopper Ball, my great-aunt.  My grandmother told me she was about 14 or 15 years old when the photo was taken.  She and Ethyl are on the left in the last row of the photo (the girl 4th from the left on the last row may be Anna E. Reeves, Malissa's step-sister and my great aunt).  Malissa and Annie were living in the household of George W. Reeves, uncle to Annie, in the 1900, JPct 3, Grayson, Texas Census enumerated
5 Jun 1900, Age 12, TN, TN, TN (Annie E.10, TX, TN, TN).

ca1890

As best I can tell they came to Texas after the death of his father in 1888, about 1889-90.  Addison died by 1892, when Jennie married Arthur McGoffin Reeves.  Their daughter, "Dolly", died before the age of two years.  Arthur died about 1899 in Oklahoma.

Tom & Malissa Stephens

Their daughter, Malissa Hamilton, was born July 10, 1886 in Warren County, Tennessee and married Thomas Marion Stephens on
November 11, 1904.
Malissa died ca1895 of a brain tumor at which time Arthur re-married.  Arthur Reeves died about 1899 in Oklahoma.
It appears the family came to Texas about 1889-1890 after the death of Addison's father in 1888.
I have been unable to locate burials in Grayson or Fannin county and can only assume they are in unrecorded, unmarked graves.
I have tracked the Hamiltons back to Warren and Rutherford counties in Tennessee. Addison had at least two brothers living in Fannin County by 1880.

I was born in Tom Bean Texas, spent the first 4 years there, spent many summers with my Stephens and Ball Grandparents.  When searching census I see many familiar names of people I knew.  My family moved to San Diego, California, then to Dallas and finally to Garland, Texas.  By popular demand my father used to keep up with the Interurban car when going to Tom Bean.
