Mr. Platter was born in Ohio, Sept. 17, 1851. Parents were old residents and had lived there since 20. Father was a farmer and Mr. Platter was born on a farm.

Received a good common school education. After leaving school went to the southern portion of Mo., Terra Cotto. And remained there until Jan'y 1, 1878, and was connected with own firm all the time while in that town for (10) ten years.

Mr. Platter in 1878 came to Denison and commenced in his present business, wholesale groceries and is also interest[ed] with Leeper, Lingo, the largest hardware firm in Denison.

Mr. Platter's business in the wholesale groceries has increased from $110,000 the first year to 1/2 million now. Mr. Platter has invested considerable in Denison Real Estate and is well pleased with the country. Was married Dec. 1883 at Sherman, Texas, to Miss Waples of Mo.
