Robert Daniel Family |
Robert Daniel 1828-1884
Birth
: 14 April 1828 @ Montgomery Co., Kentucky, son of Robert Daniel and
Catherine Hanline, so named because there was a long line of Robert
Daniels in the family and there was a son born earlier to them in
Kentucky named Robert, but he died very young, so this earlier sibling,
Robert, had already died in Kentucky by the time this son was born; so
he was named "Robert" as well to keep the name "Robert" in the family

Moved from Missouri to area northwest of Pottsboro ~ Martin Springs, Grayson Co., Texas in a covered wagon
After
the War, Robert went to Ellis County, Texas where some old friends and
family from northwest Missouri had settled earlier when he and recently
widowed Nancy Graham Branum agreed to marry and return to
Missouri, where they remains a short time and returned to Texas, where
they settled on the old homestead, just west of Pottsboro.
Nancy was
the mother of eleven children, eight of whom survived her. When
she and her husband located and settled on their land, sometime in
1854, they did not have many neighbors. There was a settlement at
Martin Springs and a ranch home where Pottsboro now stands, and perhaps
a half dozen pioneer log cabins scattered around, within a radius of
six or seven miles. Robert died in 1884 and was buried in the
Brogdon Cemetery near their home.
