Dr.
Isaac

DEATH OF MRS. LAHNSTEIN
Mrs. Joe Lahnstein, daughter of Mr. I.
Yeidel, of this city, died in Dallas
last Sunday, aged 21 years.
Mrs. Lahnstein came to Denison when but
a child, and had grown up among us to
womanhood. Only about a year ago
she gave her hand and heart to him who
had woed and won her, and since then
Dallas had been her home. About 3
weeks ago she gave birth to a bright and
beautiful boy, her own life being the
sacrifice. Mr. Yeidel was hurried
to her bedside by a telegram, and her
precious life went out while her form
was clasped in his arms. Mr.
Yeidel has adopted the motherless boy, a
sweet picture of his mother that the
father loved with such devotion.

DR. YEIDEL - The Doctor needs no
special introduction. Everybody knows
Dr. Yeidel and is pleased to see him.
The Doctor has established a most
enviable reputation for keeping the best and
purest liquors and wines for medicinal
purposes. Dr. Yeidel's practice
reaches far beyond the borders of Grayson
County and as the Doctor says, he never lost
a case....Dr. Yeidel's Beer is unsurpassed,
in fact "Yeidel's Beer" is known all over
the state. Hardly a stranger comes to
our city, that does not try some of the
doctor's Schweitzer and Beer. It does
one good to hear his familiar voice calling
out, "Twie Beer lin Schweitzer." (The Sunday
Gazetteer, Sunday, September 27,
1885, pg. 11) |

Sometime during the fall of 1901
Isaac Walker, colored, was arrested by
Deputy Constable, Bill Renfro.
Despited Walker's protests of
innocence, Renfor put him in jail in irons.
The following day it was resolved that
Isaac Walker was indeed innocently detained
and was released from jail. Constable
Preston settled with Walker for his
quiescence by payment of money. Isaac
Walker works for Dr. Yeidel and is a
respected colored man. (The Sunday

erudite scholar.

In
the early part of 1904 Dr. Yeidel left
Denison for Fort Worth to operate the
wholesale liquor house of L.
Eppstein & Son.
The Sunday
Gazetteer
Sunday, January 24, 1904
The Doctor Goes to the Fort
Dr. Yeidel, who has been a resident of
Denison for the past 30 years has gone to
Ft. Worth and will have charge of the
wholesale liquor house of L. Eppstein
& Son. As far as the Gazetteer
is concerned, no citizen has ever left who
will be more regretted than Dr. Yeidel.
For the past 30 years he has been
actively engaged in business pursuits.
He has always held a high place in
the esteem of his fellow citizens and in
leaving us, he will carry with him the
best wishes of all. It is hard to
realize that the pleasant face of the
doctor will greet us no more. There
was always a bright side to the doctor's
personality. We may say in the
language of the great play writer: "He is
a man of infinite jest and most excellent
fancy."
The doctor has entertained more people
than any man who has ever lived in
Denison. He is endowed largely with
"the mother wit" and he never told a story
that did not bring down the house."
He is a man of great erudition and
is at home on almost any subject. He
is probably as well known as any man who
has ever lived in Denison. His place
of business was a sort of Mecca toward
which thousands have journeyed in the
years bone by.
There never was a more upright
businessman, to use a common expression,
"His word was as good as his bond."
A town is better for a man like Dr.
Yeidel living in it.
The Gazetteer regrets the departure of the
doctor and hope that circumstances may
occur which will bring him back to us.
Denison doesn't look natural without
Dr. Yeidel.
