Sexton Reynoe Williams, the son of Elihu Williams and Lucinda Owens, was born in Walker County, Georgia on July 17, 1845. The family home place was placed in Whitfield County, Georgia when the county was formed in 1853.

Sexton served in Company A, 36th (Broyles?) Georgia Infantry from the 15th of January 1862 until the 22nd of July 1863 during the Civil War. One of the major battles in which he bought was the Battle of Champion's Hill near Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal before December 1862.  He became a prisoner of war in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was one of seven Williams?s brothers who served in the Civil War. He was released from prison on the 22nd of July 1863 and returned to Whitfield County, Georgia where he married Mrs. Susan Moore.

Sometime between 1886 and 1888, he moved his family to Denison, Grayson County, Texas. He worked as a local engineer in Denison and lived on Coffin Street.

On August 1st 1888, his twin brother Harris Pitsford Williams (my great grandfather - living in Chattooga County, Georgia) was on his way to find Sexton when he died on a train in Memphis, Tennessee.
