Francis Marion Teas, M.D. My
great-Grandfather, Francis Marion Teas, M.D. and his wife, Ora
Jeanette Ellis raised their family in Denison, Texas. They are buried
in Fairview Cemetery along with their son, Francis Marion Teas Jr.
William Samuel Teas, brother of Francis M. Teas, M.D., and his
wife, Lora Stone Teas are also buried in Fairview Cemetery.
Dr. Teas received his degree in Medicine from Vanderbilt University in 1895 and began practicing in Skiatook, Indian Territory. He attended post-graduate courses in medicine in Louisville (1897-1898) and in New Orleans (1907 & 1913). Francis Marion Teas and Miss Ora Jeanette Ellis at Elmo, Jackson Co. Arkansas May 8, 1898. The couple had four children:
Immediately after their marriage, the couple moved to Denison, TX. Besides practicing medicine in Denison, Dr. Teas was a member of the Grayson County Medical Society and a Fellow of the American Medical Association. He served as city physician during the smallpox epidemic (1899-1900). Dr. F. M. Teas died at his home October 31, 1922. Dr. Bryan Stroud Teas My
grandfather, Bryan Stroud Teas, was born in Denison in 1899, attended
Denison schools, and met his future wife, Stella Hook at the old
Denison High School. In the photos below, my grandfather is
marked by an arrow.
