William Henry "Bud" Taylor
August 17, 1874 - December 6, 1933

 

William Henry “Bud” Taylor was born in August 17, 1874 in Grayson Co., Texas, son of Thomas R. Taylor and Ellen Parley Lewis.   (1880 Precinct #1, Grayson County, Texas census)  Mr. Taylor never married; his occupation was that of a farmer. 

William Henry, age 25, was living next door to his widowed mother's house as well as his younger siblings, Miles, Sallie, Thomas, John and Lou Evie.  Next door was his sister and brother-in-law, Hunter and Ellen Beall and their children.  All lived outside of Sherman, east of near the MK&T Railroad and north of Cotton Belt Railroad.

At the age of 35 in 1910, William was the head of household which included his mother,  2 brothers (Thomas J. and John G.), sister, Lou; cousin, Miles B.; and uncle, Samuel Lambert.  Living next door was his brother Miles B. Henry with his wife and children.  One house separated William and Miles B's homes from his brother-in-law and sister Lawrence and Ellen Beall and family.   (1910 Precinct #1, Grayson County, Texas, census)

After the death of his mother in 1917, he registered for World War I on September 12, 1918; his home was listed as Caddo, Oklahoma, and his brother, Miles Britton Taylor, listed as his nearest relative.  The description of him was as tall man, stout build with blue eyes and dark hair.

By January 2, 1920, William had moved to Talliaferro Township, Marshall Co., Oklahoma on the north side of Red River.   He was living with his younger brother, John G., and his family, as well as his cousin, Miles P. Taylor.

The 1930 census lists William, single and age 55, living in the household of his sister and brother-in-law, Ray and Lou Fowler, and family.  They were living in Caddo, Bryan Co., Oklahoma.  (1930 Caddo, Bryan Co., Oklahoma census)

William H. Taylor died December 5, 1933 in Sherman, Grayson County, Texas, at  Wilson N. Jones  Hospital at the age of 59 years, 3 months, and 25 days.  The cause of his death was Diabetes.

William H. Taylor, 59, a  resident of Caddo, Oklahoma,  passed away in a Sherman hospital last night, following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at the Shannon church, near Denison, this  afternoon, and burial was at the Taylor Cemetery nearby.  Rev. J.P. Sanders, pastor of the Walnut Street Church of Christ, Sherman, officiated. Survivors are Mrs. C.P. Garrett, Durant; Mrs. L.H. Beal, Sherman; and Mrs. Ray Fowler, Caddo, sisters; and T.J. Taylor, Denison and J.G. Taylor, Afton, Oklahoma, brothers.

He was buried in the Taylor Family Cemetery on December 6, 1933; his grave is unmarked..
