The Indian Journal Believe Victims Were Suffocated Before Flames Reached Them Caddo, OK, Dec. 28 - At their farm 2 miles east of Caddo, 4 children of Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Taylor burned to death about 4 o'clock Sunday morning. The children were asleep in a room on the second story and it is presumed that an oil lamp in the room exploded and set fire to the room. The mother and the 2 oldest boys were in Sherman, Texas at the time of the fire. Mr. Taylor was asleep downstairs, and, seeing the reflection of flames, he rushed upstairs to the children's room and opened the door, but the flames swept him back. Mr. Taylor tried frantically to get to his children, but to no avail. Neighbors soon arrived and efforts were made to rescue the children, but the flames prevented all efforts at rescue. The house was consumed. Mr. Taylor said he heard no sound from the children's room and he believes they were suffocated before the fire reached them. George, 12 years old, Fred, 10, Allen and Alene, twins, 6, were the victims. M.G.
