William 'Hi' Hightower Triangle News

HeraldJerry Hightower wrote on Facebook: As many of you may know, my father, William "Hi" Hightower, owned Main Street News for 35 years until his death in 1990. It was Triangle News Agency until "Hi" sold the wholesale business. Through the years Main Street was in three locations, all of them being in the 500 block of Main. Before the Wal-Mart age, school supplies were purchased at Main Street News. Many of the world problems were resolved in his store every morning. If the government had only listened to the wisdom of the minds at his store, the world would be a better place. I grew up in that store. My first job was stripping the covers off of comic books.
