TYLER, Texas — Anne Clymer Goddard passed away April 15, 2013.

Anne was born in 1920, in Denison, Texas. She graduated from Denison High School in the Class of 1937, where she achieved the honor of state champion in debate. In 1941, she graduated from Southern Methodist University, where she competed on the debate team and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, an association she enjoyed throughout her life.

During World War II, she worked in our country's domestic support effort. Upon conclusion of the war in 1945, she married returning Capt. James Goddard, known to friends as "Pancho." They raised their children and lived variously in Denison, Center, Longview, Nacogdoches and lastly at Emerald Bay on Lake Palestine.

She was valued as counsel; friends and family alike sought her advice. An avid card player and always sharply dressed, her zest for life enlivened the room wherever she was. She and her husband, Pancho, were expert dancers, attracting admiration at the many Big Band events they attended.

Anne Goddard was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Mavis Clymer Bryant of Denison, Texas; and her brother, Ray Clymer Jr. of Wichita Falls.

She is survived by daughter, Karel Kay and husband, Floyd Ciruli of Denver; son, Scott Goddard and Kay Merritt of Denison; brother, Charles Clymer and wife, Francais, of Dallas; her much beloved granddaughters, Elly and Ashley and their husbands, Nolan Harris of San Clemente and Bret Barker of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Jack Harris, Cole Harris and Scout Ava Barker; and cherished nieces and nephews, Dr. Mavis Anne Bryant, James Bryant, David Bryant, Drew Wilcoxen, Francie Miller, and Jim Wilcoxen.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Emerald Bay Community Church.
