John Thomas Fitzhugh In
1902 the Federal government extended the 1892 Pension Act to include
Texas veterans of the Indian War of 1849-56 and their widows. In
1908 and 1917 the Pension Act was extended to include veterans who
served "in defense of the frontier, of Mexicans and Indians from
1855 to 1860 as well. The 1917 Pension Act included Texas Rangers
who saw service against the Kiowas, Comanches and Cheyennes, 1874-1875.
Service had to be at least 30 days or the entire period of the
campaign if the campaign was less than thirty days.
