Born in Toulton Co., Illinois, September 21, 1841, on farm and raised on farm also. Received his education at a private school, as at that time schools were very limited, finished his education at College but did not graduate. Was in the Confederate army. After the war engaged in the Drug business at home and afterwards went to Nebraska City, Nebraska, then to Denison, arriving there on Christmas Day 1874.

First engaged in the Real Estate business and in Feb'y 1885 went into the Bank First National of Denison. All of the stock of the Bank is owned by Mr. Munson, brothers and sisters. Mr. Munson and Bro., came to Denison with not more than $5,000 and are now worth $1000,000, all invested in farm and Denison Real Estate, Cattle and Stock of different kinds. Are largely engaged in mule raising, breeding about 300 mares. Is also largely interested in Railroads through East Texas.
