Dr. Acheson was born Washington Co. Penn. Oct. 12, 1848. His parents were old residents of Penn. but grandparents from Ireland. Dr. Acheson's father was a lawyer and was ten years Judge [insert illegible] from [18]67 to [18]72.

School facilities good, received a collegiate education, but was unable to graduate and the war broke out just a short while before he was to graduate. And June 1862 with Hancock's army #140 Regiment he commenced and remained during the entire war. Returned home after the war and commenced the study of his profession under Dr. Thomas McKinney and attending College during the winter. Commenced practice in 1866 at his old home, remained there about (1) one year, then came to [omitted] then to Nebraska and then to Kansas City, remaining there around (18) eighteen months. He then came to Sherman, Tex., and remained only a few months, and in Fall of 1872 came [to] Denison, Texas. Was the first Dr. to commence practice in Denison and has since remained in the active practice of his profession.

The Doctor owns a great deal of valuable property. Was married to Miss Cooke at his old home in 1864. Has two daughters.
