Hopper 14 July 1879 - 11 March 1922 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, May 6, 1926 pg. 1 YOUTH DROWNS WHILE FISHING NEAR GUNTER Ury Sidney Hopper, 16 years old, was drowned in Gunter Lake, near Gunter, Monday afternoon. He was putting out a "trot-line" when he apparently was seized with cramps, and it took almost an hour to locate his body. Fishing with his father, Bird Hopper, formerly of Tom Bean, and his 14-year-old brother, Ury Hopper had waded into the lake where the water was up to his neck, when he apparently took a cramp, went under and crawled along the bottom toward the center for about 20 feet, it was believed. Funeral services were held at the youth's home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. I.E. Teague of near this city officiated.
